Lesson · Area between curves

To find the area between two curves, subtract the bottom curve from the top one and integrate:

Area=∫ab(top−bottom) dx\text{Area} = \int_a^b \big(\text{top} - \text{bottom}\big)\,dx

So first you need to know which curve is on top. Between x=0x = 0 and x=1x = 1, try a test point like x=12x = \tfrac{1}{2}.

Between x=0x = 0 and x=1x = 1, which curve is on top?
